Earlier this morning, Nintendo announced that Min Min from ARMS will be the next DLC fighter added to Super Smash Brothers Ultimate. She will be available on June 29th and is the first of six fighters to be released in the game's second Fighters Pass bundle. The 30-minute presentation by Masahiro Sakurai also revealed that Vault Boy from Fallout will be available as a new skin for the Mii Gunner character. Best 2019 small suv. Ninjara from ARMS, Heihachi from Tekken, and Callie and Marie from Splatoon will also be available as Mii costumes.
Fans reacted to the announcement with the usual mix of excitement and memes, but many Twitter users also took the opportunity to remember Etika, the streamer who passed away last June after an apparent suicide. Etika was well known for his over-the-top reactions to Smash news, was a fan of Arms and had a particular fondness for Min Min. While the announcement was exciting, many wondered about the joy the announcement would have brought Etika, whose name trended on Twitter alongside Smash-related topics.

The next six Super Smash Bros. Ultimate characters have already been chosen, and Sakurai is not taking suggestions on Twitter (please don’t yell at him) Sakurai wonders if Smash is a fighting game.
The latest tweets from @yaesakurai. A group of Waluigi fans have been tweeting highly inappropriate messages on Twitter to the official and personal account of Super Smash Bros. Creator Masahiro Sakurai. In one offensive tweet, Sakurai’s face was plastered on the landscape of the September 11 attacks, which is an extremely rude act.

A few days after the one year anniversary of his death, Etika finally got MinMin in smash. Fucking iconic gamer moment. https://t.co/OeG77F8pY6

While the choice to include Min Min over other ARMS characters probably was not related to Etika, the inclusion was a touching albeit bittersweet moment for fans remembering Etika's passing.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate just got another breath of fresh air thanks to a recent addition to the game's roster and the patch that added buffs and nerfs across the game's expansive cast. For those who may have missed it, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate added Pyra and Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 as playable fighters, and the duo is already proving to be quite formidable.
Another treat that came from Pyra and Mythra's reveal was a video showcase demonstrating their movesets, hosted by none other than the game's director, Masahiro Sakurai, who is known as a fan-favorite figure among the Smash community. Now, the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director has revealed that he has been verified on the social media platform Twitter, despite never having requested verification in the first place.

Yesterday, Sakurai tweeted about the revelation himself, showcasing his new checkmark on Twitter for the first time. Sakurai's tweet roughly translates to, 'I got verified. When did this happen, even though I didn't think I had applied or even requested it in the first place?! Regardless, thank you very much.' It's a fittingly humble tweet from Sakurai, who's known for working extremely hard on the games he's attached to. Plenty of times in the past, Sakurai has opened up about the stress and effort he and his team go through when developing a new entry in the Smash Bros. series.

Sakurai's Twitter is mainly a vehicle to talk about or showcase Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. In fact, Sakurai tweets out Super Smash Bros. Ultimate screenshots pretty much every single day, which often highlight either a very funny or cinematic scenario for the fighters involved. Despite Sakurai himself claiming he would tweet fewer Super Smash Bros. Ultimate pictures in 2021, it doesn't seem like the prolific game director is slowing down at all. For many, this is a positive, considering Sakurai's Smash Ultimate screenshots are a treat whenever they show up on one's Twitter timeline.

Sakurai Smash Twitter

However, many would probably like to see Sakurai tweet about other aspects of Super Smash Bros., like behind the scenes information regarding various aspects of the game's development. Sakurai recently took the time to explain a bit about how Smash Ultimate's DLC trailers are made, and it was a pretty interesting segment of the Pyra and Mythra showcase. Players in the Smash community love hearing Sakurai talk about more technical aspects of the series as well, so this would likely be a welcome change for many fans and players.

However, Sakurai's Twitter account getting verified may end up bringing a bit more attention to him than he may like. For example, Sakurai may end up getting a lot more players asking why so many sword fighters are in Smash, something he has spoken about many times in the past. Still, it also means that the various parody accounts based on Sakurai will have less of a chance of confusing more casual Twitter users. Regardless, hopefully, Sakurai enjoys his newfound Twitter capabilities to the fullest going forward.
